Selected Areas of Wireless Communications and Networking
The technical track on Wireless Communications and Networking (WCN)
of the ACM Symposium on Applied Computing
(SAC 2018)
will be held in Pau, France, April 9 - 13, 2018.
Research on Wireless Communications and Networking (WCN) has been able to improve our lives
in the multiple ways. The need to communicate anytime, anywhere brought us many new wireless and networking technologies that we are using today, including cellular networks (3G/4G/5G),
ad-hoc networks, sensor networks, WiMAX, etc. The invention of these technologies has created a new paradigm of research and developments. In particular, the past decade has seen a significant
surge of research activities in wireless communications and networking. While a number of their applications and services have been introduced, the demands for new applications still exist,
requiring technical challenges to become bigger every day. In addition to the WCN research topics, a great number of individuals, researchers, academics are emphasizing new novel ideas and
improving the performance of next generation of networking paradigms such as Future Internet architectures, Data centric communications, and so on. This special track aims to bring together
researchers, academics, individuals working on selected areas of wireless communications and networking to share their new ideas, latest findings and results.
Major topics of interest include but are not limited to the following:
- Wireless Sensor
Networks (WSNs)
- Underwater Wireless
Sensor Networks (UWSNs)
- Vehicle-to-Vehicle
Communications (V2V communications)
- Wireless Body area
Networks (WBANs)
- Machine to Machine
Communications (M2M)
- Cognitive Wireless
Networks
- Network design,
control, and performance
- Congestion control
and Traffic management
- Energy efficiency
and power control
- MAC, Routing and
Transport protocols
- Data Centric Communications and Protocols
- Future Internet Architectures (ICN/CCN/NDN)
The proposed
track would like to solicit original contributions regarding recent developments and ideas related to the
above-mentioned topics. Submissions must not have been published or be currently under consideration somewhere
else. The papers should be submitted in the PDF format.
The author(s) name(s) and address(es) must NOT appear
in the submitted paper. Papers should be formatted according to the template available at the SAC 2017 website.
Each submission will be reviewed in a double-blind process. The conference proceedings will be published by ACM and
will be available online through the ACM Digital Library.
Prospective
papers should be submitted in PDF format using the provided automated submission system for
Regular Papers and
SRC Papers.
Paper Length Information: Full papers are limited to 8 pages, in camera-ready format, included in the registration fee. Authors have the option to include up to two (2) extrapages at additional fee of US$80 per page.
Posters are limited to 3 pages, in camera-ready format, included in the registration fee. Authors have the option to include only one (1) extra page at additional fee of US$80.
SRC Abstracts are limited to 2 pages, in camera-ready format, included in the registration fee. No extra pages allowed.
Important Note: Paper
registration is required, allowing the inclusion of the paper/poster in the conference proceedings. An author
or a proxy attending SAC MUST present the paper. This is a requirement for the paper/poster to be included in
the ACM/IEEE digital library. No-show of scheduled papers and posters will result in excluding them from the
ACM/IEEE digital library.
Submission of papers and SRC research abstracts: (PST) September 25, 2017
Notification of paper and SRC acceptance/rejection: November 10, 2017
Camera-ready copies of accepted papers/SRC: November 25, 2017
Author registration due date: December 10, 2017
